The oven did not, in actuality, explode but it almost did. We have delayed ignition caused by a weak hot surface ignitor. Which just means that the oven is broken but repairable. No cupcake baking for at least a week. The NYTimes cookies were tasty but clearly cooked in an oven that was not performing optimally. We will have to try them again one day...
